About Business Watch
Slough Trading Estate Business Watch has been operating on the Slough Trading Estate since 1994.
The aims and objectives of the scheme are very simple.
“To create and maintain a safe and secure environment for those who work on and visit Slough Trading Estate“
We achieve this by working in partnership with the Thames Valley Police, SEGRO, G4S, and of course the Estate Community to proactively reduce the fear of crime within business and the community as a whole.
Our state of the art Operation Centre is equipped with the latest CCTV monitoring and recording equipment, and is staffed by experienced Operators who have an extensive knowledge of the estate. Also within the Control Room is a direct radio link to the Police, which is unique for a private Industrial estate in the UK.
We also offer a “Pager” alarm System which is linked to the Control Room, and if activated, the alarm is received within 5 seconds to our control room and Mobile Patrol, who will reach the premises in question within 5 minutes. This service is exclusive to Business Watch members with no call out fees.
As a result, criminal activity has reduced dramatically.
For example. In 2001 there were 875 recorded crimes on the estate and retail park. In 2020 there were 14.
The Business Watch team are headed by Jim McLaughlin . An experienced security professional with 13 years military experience in the Scots Guards – as a Commander and trainer, who possesses a wealth of experience gained within the Police Service from 23 year’s service, ranging from Police Constable to Chief Inspector. Now in the commercial sector, he effectively oversaw the Olympic and Paralympic Games as the Olympic Park Security Command Centre Manager and Incident Manager overseeing incident management response and investigation and a wealth of other security responsibilities . In his current role he is responsible for the day to day operations, business development, procurement and accounts.
The unique partnership working relationship Jim has with Shah Amin, G4S dedicated SEGRO accounts manager, ensures that the Business Watch operation is both efficient and effective to achieve the aims and objectives of the scheme.
